Overview

NaviGate is a flight planning and weather app for aviation professionals and enthusiasts. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights.

Data We Collect

NaviGate does not create user accounts and does not send any personal data to our servers. Specifically:

• Camera: Used solely to scan ATC flight plans and SIGMET documents for OCR processing. Images are processed on-device using Apple's Vision framework and are never transmitted or stored.
• Flight routes: Routes you enter are stored locally on your device (UserDefaults) for convenience. They are never sent to our servers.
• Weather & radar data: Fetched from public aviation APIs (aviationweather.gov) and our radar tile server (navigateapp.fr). No personal data is included in these requests.
• App preferences: Stored locally on your device only (map type, dark mode, runway length, etc.).

Third-Party Services

• aviationweather.gov (NOAA) — METAR, TAF, SIGMET, and WAFS turbulence data. Public API, no account required.
• navigateapp.fr — Our radar tile server. Serves precipitation radar imagery aggregated from European sources (OPERA, DPC, MGM, IMS, IPMA). No personal data is logged.
• Blitzortung.org — Real-time lightning strike data. Only map tile coordinates are sent, no user identifier.
• airplanes.live — Real-time aircraft position data. Only map bounding-box coordinates are sent, no user identifier.
• FlightRadar24 (FR24) — Flight tracking links for route and status details. Only the aircraft registration is sent, no user identifier.
• atis.guru — D-ATIS (digital ATIS) for airports. Only the ICAO airport code is sent.
• Trip.com — Terminal and gate operational data. Only the airport or flight identifier is sent.

Camera Permission

NaviGate requests access to your camera exclusively to scan printed or displayed flight plans and weather documents. No photos are saved to your photo library. No images leave your device.

Data Retention

All data stored by NaviGate (route history, airport search history, cached weather) resides on your device and can be cleared at any time by deleting the app.

Children's Privacy

NaviGate is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.
